Leonard Boardman was Secretary of the Coledale Branch of the Unemployed Workers' Movement until he gained employment as an organiser with the Australian Workers' Union in 1933. The Movement sought to assist unemployed workers, particularly those with families, survive during the Depression years of the 1930s.
