| Three years after the foundation of the Colony of South Australia in 1836, the Adelaide Chamber of Commerce was formed. After numerous efforts at rationalising representative structures for the State's business community, the Adelaide Chamber of Commerce and the South Australian Chamber of Manufactures merged in 1972 to form the Chamber of Commerce and Industry SA Inc. Finally on 1 November 1993, rationalisation was complete with the merger of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the South Australian Employers' Federation to form the South Australian Employers' Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. This repositioning culminated in the launch on 29 May 2000 of Business SA, a new name and a new image for the State's leading business and employer group. See "online sources" for a pedigree chart of this entity. |
