Australian Teachers Union (ii) (1987 - 1991) |
| Function: Trade Union (Federal) | |||
| The Australian Teachers' Union was formed in 1987 but originated as the Australian Teachers' Union in 1930. By 1937 it was known as the Australian Teachers' Federation, its member base expanding greatly when members of the defunct Federated State School Teachers' Association of Australia migrated across in 1950. From 1987 the Australian Teachers' Union retained this title until 1993, despite an amalgamation in 1991 with the ACT Teachers' Federation and the Northern Territory Teachers' Federation. From 1993, the Union has been known as the Australian Education Union. See "online sources" for a pedigree chart of this entity. |
