Employer Body entry National Farmers Union of Australia (1949 - 1969)

Summary

Formed in 1949 as a result of a name change from the Primary Producers' Council of Australia which had been operating since 1943, the National Farmers' Union of Australia merged with the Australian Primary Producers' Union to form the Australian Farmers' Federation in 1969. In 1979 the Australian Farmers' Federation amalgamated with the Australian Wheatgrowers' Federation, the Australian Wool & Meat Producers' Federation, Australian Vegetable Growers' Association, the Australian Woolgrowers' & Graziers' Council, Australian Seed Producers' Federation, the Cattlemens' Union of Australia and the Australian National Cattlemens' Council to form the National Farmers' Federation.
