Summary

Formed in 1908, the Fibrous Plasterers' Association of Victoria was a small union of skilled tradesmen, and apprenticeship tradesmen. The Association operated until 1936 when it became the Victorian Fibrous Plasterers' Union. Two years later it was renamed the Victorian Fibrous Plasterers' and Plaster Workers' Union. In 1973 the union changed names to the Victorian Plaster Industry Workers’ Union and in 1988 it merged with the Victorian Operative Bricklayers’ Society and the Victorian Plasterers’ Society to form the Victorian State Building Trades Union. It remained the Victorian State Building Trades Union despite a 1991 amalgamation with the Slaters Tilers and Roofing Industry Union of Victoria.
