Born: 1913  Murray Bridge, South Australia
Born at Murray Bridge in South Australia in 1913, Clyde Cameron has had a long and influential involvement with the labour movement and politics in Australia. Offices held by Cameron include that of an organiser for the Australian Workers Union [AWU] from 1938 to 1941; Secretary of the South Australian Branch of the AWU 1941-1949; Federal Vice-President from 1942 to 1950; and President of the South Australian Branch in 1956. Cameron was also MHR for Hindmarsh in South Australia from 1949 to 1980 and held a number of ministerial positions during that time. Since his retirement from Federal Parliament Cameron has been active in documenting labour history.
