Congress
Between 1879 and 1898, eight Intercolonial Trade Union Congresses were held. The Congresses, organised by their respective Trades and Labour Councils focused on issues of national concern that ran across the areas of interest of all unions. One of the major continuing themes of the Congresses was the idea of federated national trade unions.
