| Marie McFarlane held a number of elected positions with the trade union movement from the 1970s to the 1990s. McFarlane worked as a shop steward for the Australian Technical Employees' Association and the Australian Telephonists and Phonogram Operators' Association. She was also shop steward for Food Services PMG Telecom Queensland. In 1978 she became the first honorary Secretary of the Working Womens' Charter Committee and held that position until 1987. |
