Summary

The Western Australian Typographical Society was formed in 1888. In 1900, the title was changed to the Western Australian Typographical Industrial Union of Workers. In 1916, the union became part of the federated industry and the name of the Printing Industry Employees' Union of Australia, Western Australian Branch was adopted. In 1966 the Amalgamated Printing Trades Employees' Union of Australia and the Printing Industry Employees' Union of Australia amalgamated to form the Printing & Kindred Industries Union. Despite reregistering on two more occasions, in 1986 and 1992, the union retained this name until 1995 when it merged with the Automotive Food Metals & Engineering Union to form the Automotive Food Metals Engineering Printing & Kindred Industries Union.
