Related EntriesPublished Sources
Congress
Location: Sydney, New South Wales
According to Hagan (History of the ACTU, 1981, p 43) this congress did not have the same support as its predecessors. The Melbourne Trades Hall Council did not participate. The congress passed a motion expressing displeasure with the way in which Federal Labor politicians and the Commonwealth Council of Federated Unions had misrepresented the trade union movement in the lead up to the 1926 Referendum on changes to the Constitution which were require to put into effect an Essential Services Bill and an Industries and Commerce Bill.
