Summary
Born in Wales in 1852, Price migrated to Australia with his wife in 1883, settling in South Australia. A stonemason by training, Price was Secretary and President of the Operative Stonemasons and had been a delegate to the United Trades and Labor Council. In 1893, he entered the House of Assembly as a member of the United Labor Party where he devoted his energies to arguing for the improvement of workers’ conditions. He led the Labor Party to victory in 1905 and remained Premier until his death in 1909.
