Cooper, Frank (1872 - 1949)

Born: 1872  Blayney, New South Wales.  Died: 1949.
Raised in New South Wales, Cooper moved to Ipswich, Queensland to take up a post as clerk in the state's main railway workshops in 1909. He was a member of the Brisbane Clerical Union and Secretary of the Ipswich Workers' Political Organisation as well as working as a sometime journalist. He entered state politics, winning a seat in the Legislative Assembly in 1915 and remained active at various levels of state politics until he became Premier in 1942. He remained Premier until he resigned in 1946.
