Operative Masons Society of South Australia (1914 - 1918)

Related EntriesArchival/Heritage Sources
Function: Trade Union (State or Territory only)
Location: South Australia
The Operative Masons' Society of South Australia was formed in 1914 by masons in the Bricklayers' Society who felt that their interests would be better served by a Society of their own. In 1918 this society became the South Australian Branch of the Operative Stonemasons' Society of Australia. Although the Operative Stonemasons' Society of Australia was not deregistered until 1991, the South Australian Branch had, by 1962, amalgamated with the Federated Miscellaneous Workers' Union.
