| Born: 1885 South Australia. Died: 1967. | |
| Born and educated in South Australia, Richards began working in mines from the age of thirteen. He became President of the mining section of the Australian Workers’ Union in 1917, leading it in a strike in 1922. He entered the House of Assembly in 1918 and held various ministerial positions until replacing Lionel Hill as Premier in 1933. Richards died in 1967. |
