Ted Bull was a long-time member of the Waterside Workers' Federation. This recording explores Bull's time as a rank and file member and also as Secretary of that Union. Some of the issues and events covered include: The Pig Iron Dispute; the control of the WWF by the Industrial Groupers up to 1954 and their subsequent overthrow; a plot to assassinate Jim Healy; working conditions on the waterfront during the 1950s; the recruitment of indigenous people by the WWF for work on the wharves; various industrial disputes; refusal to load ships for Vietnam, South Africa and Greece; WWF publications; the role of wives in support of husbands during strikes; Bull's compulsory retirement in 1979.- Formats
