Extracts from Mrs Scott-Cowen's reminiscences and letters from her father when she was a young girl (1895) which describe her life, the people she met and the places she saw in Western Queensland and the Darling Downs from the 1880s. Described in detail are the treatment of aborigines and Chinese labourers on the stations, the Shearer's Strike of the 1890s and the work of a farmer's wife on the Darling Downs.
