Summary
The Association of Officers of the Council for Scientific & Industrial Research (the CSIR Officers Association) was first registered federally in 1945 and operated as such until 1949 until the name of the organisation was changed slightly to the Association of Officers of the Commonwealth Scientific & Research Organisation. In 1980 the Association reregistered again, this time as the CSIRO Officers' Association. By 1992 this Association had amalgamated with the CSIRO Technical Association to form the CSIRO Staff Association, but was soon after merged into the Public Sector Union. Today this union is known formally as the CPSU, the Community & Public Sector Union.
