Summary
The Australian International Cabin Crew Association [AICCA] was registered in 1958 as the Flight Stewards' Association. In 1984 the Association changed its name to the Australian International Cabin Crew Association in order to get away from the concept that it was a male oriented organisation. When Qantas replaced 'Hostesses' with 'Female Flight Service Attendants' the Association changed its rules and name to ensure that it had the constitution to cover the new classification. The Association covered all international cabin crew (which meant Qantas staff). In 1992 the AICCA amalgamated with the Australian Flight Attendants' Association (previously known as the Airline Hostesses' Association) to form the Flight Attendants' Association of Australia (FAAA). It is affiliated with the Australian Council of Trade Unions [ACTU], and its journal is called the FAAA Express.
