Summary
Formed in 1926, the Fire Protection Engineers' Association of Australia served its members until 1979 when it changed names to become the Fire Sprinkler Contractors' Association of Australia. By 1990 it was known as the Fire Protection Industry Association of Australia [FPIAA]. Then in 1997 the FPIAA amalgamated with the Australian Fire Protection Association [AFPA] to form the Fire Protection Association Australia [FPA]
With some 1,600 members, FPA Australia brings together the broad range of individuals, companies and organisations involved in fire protection, including government, fire and emergency services, insurance, research, engineering, architecture, building, health, education and training, transport, manufacturing, mining, and working in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of fire protection systems.
