Summary
Registered federally in 1922, the Trustee Companies Officers' Association operated until 1991 when an unprecedented level of upheaval in the Australian finance industry forced it to reevaluate its position. The Association opted to merge with the larger Australian Bank Employees' Union [ABIEU] and the Australian Insurance Employees' Union (AIEU] as well as with the smaller AMP Society Staff Association and the Wool Brokers Staffs' Association to form the Finance Sector Union of Australia [FSU]. In March 1994, the FSU was further strengthened when the Commonwealth Bank Officers' Association[CBOA] joined with the FSU.
