Summary
Paddy Troy was a Secretary of the Federated Ship Painters' and Dockers' Union in Western Australia and was an active force behind the Coastal Dock Rivers and Harbour Works Union [CDRHWU], a hybrid union which combined harbour construction and maintenance workers, crews, watchmen, patrolmen, casual lumpers and tradesmen's assistants along with cleaners and labourers employed on ship repair and maintenance.
He helped establish the West Australian branch of the Australian Workers' Union [AWU] and was a proponent of a single industrial union covering all maritime workers.
