| Function: Trade Union (Federal) | ||||
| Registered in 1913, the Australian Paper Mill Employees' Union became the Pulp & Paper Workers' Federation of Australia in 1948. It amalgamated in 1991 with affiliated unions and became the Australian Timber and Allied Industries Union. Later in that year the union amalgamated again, this time with the Building Workers' Industrial Union of Australia to form the ATAIU & BWIU Amalgamated Union. By the end of 1992 this union had amalgamated twice more, with the United Mineworkers and later with the Operative Plasterers and Plaster Workers to eventually form the Construction Forestry Mining & Energy Union. This last union was reregistered under the same name in 1993. See "online sources" for a pedigree chart of this entity. |
