The Cattlemens' Union of Australia was registered federally in 1976 and operated for just three years before it amalgamated with the Australian Wheatgrowers' Federation, the Australian Wool & Meat Producers' Federation, Australian Vegetable Growers' Association, the Australian Woolgrowers' & Graziers' Council, Australian Seed Producers' Federation, the Australian Farmers' Federation and the Australian National Cattlemens' Council to form the National Farmers' Federation in 1979.
