Health & Research Employees Association of Australia (1969 - 1991)

Related EntriesOnline SourcesArchival/Heritage Sources
Function: Trade Union (Federal)
Although what eventually became the Health & Research Association of Australia had functioned in various forms in the states of Australia, no attempt was made to unite these unions from beyond their state boundaries until 1965 when an application was made for registration under the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Act. This registration was granted in 1969 and the Association functioned at both a state and federal level.

In 1991 the HREA amalgamated with the Hospital Employees' Federation of Australia to form the Health Services Union of Australia in January 1991.
