| Formed in 1971, the Professional Divers' Association of Australasia operated until 1991 when it amalgamated with the Seamens' Union of Australia. By 1993, a further amalgamation with the Waterside Workers' Federation of Australia, caused a change of name to the Maritime Union of Australia.
