Operating from about 1875 to 1907, the Amalgamated Journeymen Tailors' Association of New South Wales merged with other smaller state based unions to form the Federated Clothing Trades of the Commonwealth of Australia, to take advantage of the provisions of the newly introduced Commonwealth Arbitration Act.
