Industrial Training Commission of Victoria (1975 - )

Related Entries
Function: Regulatory Body
Location: Victoria
With the introduction of the Industrial Training Act 1975, the Apprenticeship Commission was superseded by the Industrial Training Commission. The new legislation enabled the Industrial Training Commission to be responsible for the direction and implementation of training schemes for skilled trades.

Prior to 1981 the Department of Labour and Industry administered the Apprenticeship Commission and then the Industrial Training Commission. In 1981 the Commission came within the ambit of the Ministry of Employment and Training. The Training Division of the Ministry of Employment and Training provided administrative support to the Commission. With the abolition of the Ministry of Employment and Training in 1985 the Commission moved into the ambit of the newly created Department of Employment and Industrial Affairs.
