| The Federated Undertakers' Assistants' & Cemetary Employees' Union of Australia was formed from the Undertakers Assistants' Union of Victoria which was itself formed in Melbourne on 26 September 1890 and reformed on 24 August 1900. By November 1914 it had become known as the Federated Undertakers' Assistants & Cemetary Employees' Union of Australia, although by August 1915 it appears as the Undertakers' Assistants & Cemetary Employees' Union of Australia. It was under this name that the Union registered with the Commonwealth Conciliation & Arbitration Court on 27 March 1916. Operating until 1988, the Union merged eventually merged into the Australian Workers' Union, which in 1993 became the AWU-FIME Amalgamated Union. |
