Summary
Formed in 1939, the Australian Wool Producers' Federation operated effectively for the duration of the Second World War, because in 1945 it was renamed the Australian Wool & Meat Producers' Federation. The Wool & Meat Producers' Federation operated until 1979 when it amalgamated with the Australian Vegetable Growers Association, the Australian Wheat Growers' Federation, the Australian National Cattlemen's Council, the Cattlemen's Union of Australia, the Australian Seed Producers' Federation, the Australian Woolgrowers' & Graziers' Council, and the Australian Farmers' Federation to form the National Farmers Federation [NFF]. The inaugural meeting of the NFF was held on 20 Jul 1979.
