Summary
The largest employer body of its time, the Confederation of Australian Industry was formed in 1978 following an amalgamation of the Associated Chamber of Manufactures of Australia and the Australian Council of Employers' Federations. In 1992 the Confederation merged with the Australian Chamber of Commerce to create the Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
