Trade Union entry Municipal Officers Association of Australia (1921 - 1991)

Summary

Registered with the federal Conciliation and Arbitration Court in 1921, the Municipal Officers' Association of Australia grew from a small and politically conservative union into a large and more vocal organisation. In 1991 it amalgamated with the Australian Transport Officers' Federation and the Technical Service Guild of Australia to form the Australian Municipal Transport Energy Water Ports Community & Information Services Union. Later amalgamations with the Australian Social Welfare Union in 1992 and the Australian Shipping & Travel Officers' Association prompted the union to reregister on both occasions but under the same name. Late in 1993 the union eventually changed its name to the Australian Municipal Administrative Clerical & Services Union and remains as such despite a further amalgamation with the Totalisator Employees' Association of Victoria in 1994.
