Summary
Formed in 1918, but registered in 1919, the Operative Stonemasons' Society of Australia was an amalgamation of state masons' societies from Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia, each with a history beginning in the mid-to-late nineteenth century. Operating for much of the twentieth century, the Operative Stonemasons' Society of Australia eventually became a victim of progress and was deregistered in 1991.
