The West Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry was formed in 1983, when the Federated Chambers of Commerce of Western Australia, which was itself established in 1929, and the Perth Chamber of Commerce, which dates back to 1890, merged.

On the 1 January 1992, the West Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry merged with the Confederation of West Australian Industry to form the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Western Australia.
