Summary

The Amalgamated Miners' Association of Victoria merged in 1884 with several other unions, including the New South Wales coalminers, to become the Amalgamated Miners' Association of Australasia. In 1916, it became the Australasian Coal & Shale Employees' Federation, otherwise known as the 'Miners' Federation'.
