Summary

The Court of Industrial Arbitration was established by the Industrial Arbitration Act 1912. The Act also dissolved the Industrial Court and the Industrial Boards created under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1908. The Court of Industrial Arbitration was a superior court and a court of record which was constituted by a single judge, appointed by the Governor. The judge was required to be either a Supreme Court Judge, District Court Judge or a barrister at law of five years standing.

On 15 April 1926 the Court of Industrial Arbitration was abolished under the Industrial Arbitration (Amendment) Act, 1926 and the Industrial Commission of NSW was established in its place assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Court of Industrial Arbitration and the Board of Trade.
